Universities Scotland make Care Review pledge

All of Scotland’s universities will guarantee an offer of an undergraduate place to care experienced applicants who meet minimum entry requirements.

Announced on 25 July 2019, the commitment will be in place for the next admissions cycle, starting in autumn of this year for people looking to begin university in autumn 2020.

The move is aimed at driving an increase in the number of care experienced people going to university.

The Care Review has heard about the challenges many young people face when it comes to education and study, with a lack of stability often mentioned as a significant problem and a real barrier to gaining qualifications.

With no age limit to the new guaranteed place offer, people who wish to go back to education later in life may benefit from the scheme.
